As part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the National Cancer Institute, part of NIH, recently funded seven research and research infrastructure Grand Opportunities, or GO grants. The awards were for Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER) in genomic and personalized medicine (GPM). These awards will support two year efforts that will advance methods for analysis, synthesis, modeling and evaluation of the clinical validity and utility of existing and emerging GPM applications in cancer control and prevention. They will accelerate the development of GPM by planning CER initiatives as well as enhance clinical and population data infrastructure to support CER initiatives in GPM.
